COVID-19; ASUU SENDS MESSAGE TO FG EDUCATIONAL SECTOR.
ASUU, has sent a message to the Federal government concerning the educational sector and Covid-19. About yesterday, the organization has called on the FG to declare a state of emergency In the sector of education and working towards raising funds to tackle the affairs that needs attention in the sector.
ASUU, is demanding that the FG should raise fund for the educational sector just like they did for the containment of the coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria. The National president of ASUU, prof. Biodun Ogunyemi passed this message to the FG. He stated that the educational sector has suffered a lot from poor funding and also needs to be funded more than many other sectors in this country.
He also emphasized that some of the funds that were supposed to move to the educational sector were shifted to the medical sector to purchase ventilators and for fighting against coronavirus outbreak in the country.
He also said that the FG has raised huge sum of money for the fight against COVID-19 pandemic simply because they saw it as a health emergency. He said that if the government fails to fund the educational sector, then the sector will end up producing unqualified medical doctors which will be disastrous.
ASUU is asking the FG to focus also on the educational sector once the sector lacks equipment, funds or quality to train and produce quality graduates, then the country, Nigeria future is at risk.
This was the messsage sent to the Federal Government by the ASUU president concerning the Educational sector of Nigeria.
